The earliest records of Fernhurst Cricket Club date back to 1889 in which matches were recorded against Lynchmere, Whispers and The Marshes. In the early years only friendly cricket was played and it wasn't until 1975 when the Ashurst Evening league was formed that Fernhurst entered competitive cricket. Between 1975 and 1993 they won the league six times and the knockout shield four times. In 1997, on entry to the I'Anson league, they won the 4th Division title and, in following year finished as runners up to Cranleigh St. Andrews in Division 3. Success continued in 1999 with the 2nd Division Championship and with it, the Herald Shield. With a newly formed 2nd XI, the year 2000 saw Fernhurst in both Divisions 1 and 5, which only in its second season. Success continued with the 1st XI finishing fifth and the 2nd XI carrying off the Norman Disney Trophy as Division 5 champions.
